Sanjhi SIkhiya completes one year of its work in Patiala district
Patiala, November 26, 2021: An online event was organized by Sanjhi Sikhiya organisation working for the improvement of government primary schools in District Patiala on completion of one year in the district. The work done by the organization over the last one year was highlighted and inspiring stories from the field were celebrated. Youth leaders from the second cohort of Sanjhi Sikhiya shared the contribution made by the society and teachers for the improvement of government schools in Punjab.
Ashish Shukla from Indian Education Collective was the Chief Guest for the event. In his sharing, he described the large scale of work being done by the organization in three districts of Punjab; Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar. He appreciated Sanjhi Sikhiya for bringing education to the top priority of the local government bodies and of the parents as well.
Dr. Rajwant Singh from EcoSikh also joined to appreciate the work accomplished by the organization and shared the importance of community’s participation in solving societal issues. Ravi Gulati from Manzil organisation and Preetlarhi magazine’s editor, Poonam Singh blessed Sanjhi Sikhiya with their presence. Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Gulati and Poonam Singh described the work being done by the organisation for change in Punjab as the need of the society. They also shared that the society needs more initiatives like this.
Sanjhi Sikhiya is a collective movement of young professionals that aims to transform the public education system of Punjab by enabling dialogues and forming communities. Apart from strengthening institutions and supporting stakeholders in 3 districts – Rupnagar, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib, the team also does policy and practice advocacy at the state to enable effective learning and governance across Punjab.
