Health department Gets a Boost with Recruitment of 266 Health Workers
46 ASHAs also appointed as Healt`h worker
Chandigarh, December 23:
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr O.P. Soni who is also holding the charge of Health and Family Welfare Department, handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Multi Purpose Health Workers (Female) at his official residence in Chandigarh. Mr. Raj Kamal Chaudhary,Principal Secretary Health, Dr. Andesh Kaur, Director Health and family welfare and Dr. O.P. Gojra ,Director Health Services(Family Welfare) were also present on the occasion.
Government had advertised 600 vacancies of MPHWs(female) and in the first phase 225 candidates were given appointment orders and in today’s function 266 more candidates were given appointment orders and rest of the candidates will also be recruited in the coming days.
Six staff nurses were also given appointment orders in today’s function.
While addressing new recruits, Mr Soni motivated them to work honestly and diligently as their job profile consists of providing basic health services to the general public.
He asserted that the selection of new appointees was done through a written test, in a completely fair and transparent manner.
While congratulating the newly selected aspirants and their families, he stated that “Getting an employment is an unforgettable moment in one’s life and government expects that all new MPHWs will work for the wellbeing of people especially in this Pandemic period.”
Mr Soni said “Punjab government is handling Covid-19 phase very carefully and it is all happening only due to round the clock services of health employees”. He added that under Punjab government’s ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojna’ we have enhanced our health system by recruiting large number of medical and paramedical staff and even selection process of over 800 regular ward attendants is near completion”.
Disclosing about the initiative of Punjab Government to provide regular jobs to the ASHAs(Accredited Social Health Activist),who work at the grassroot level on incentive basis.These ASHAs were given reservation of 10 percent as well as age relaxation in these vacancies and those having requisite qualification participated in the written test and on merit 46 ASHAs have also been given regular appointments as Health workers.
