Chairperson, Haryana Water Resources Authority (HWRA), Smt. Keshni Anand Arora said that the ‘Atal Jal Haryana’ programme will revolutionise groundwater governance in the state and will set an example for the entire country.
Chandigarh, December 29 – Chairperson, Haryana Water Resources Authority (HWRA), Smt. Keshni Anand Arora said that the ‘Atal Jal Haryana’ programme will revolutionise groundwater governance in the state and will set an example for the entire country.
Smt. Keshni Anand Arora said this at the closing ceremony of the two-day workshop on the topic “Collective Reflection on the Submitted Water Security Plan and the Process followed during the preparation of Water Security Plans, and Water Security Plans submitted to Govt of India” organised by the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Haryana and Haryana Water Resources Authority today.
In this workshop, which lasted for two days, experts from the District Program Management Unit and team-leaders of District Implementation Partner teams including nodal officers of all the districts were also present.
Smt. Keshni Anand Arora, started the programme with a brief introduction of the agenda. A presentation was made on the status of ‘Water Security Plans’ submitted by various district teams. She also discussed the importance of community participation in the preparation of water security plans for better and participatory groundwater management.
In the discussion, each District Implementation Partner team put forth their views, in which the State Program Management Unit tried to answer the queries of all the teams in the meeting itself. In this, various issues related to Village Water Sewage Committee, data collections etc. were also raised, on which all kinds of cooperation was assured from the department.
Project Director of the Authority and Engineer-in-Chief of Lift Canal Unit, Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian was also present on the occasion. He said that under Atal Jal Yojana, water-panchayat would be organised in every village panchayat. During this time the villagers will take ownership of their groundwater resources and decide the future course of action in consultation with the state team.
