Renowned Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, aged 72, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness, as confirmed by his family.
The esteemed Ghazal maestro breathed his last on February 26, with the news of his demise being verified through an official statement from his family. He succumbed to his illness at Breach Candy Hospital around 11 am, as reported by a source close to the family and cited by news agency PTI.
In an emotional Instagram post, Udhas’s daughter Nayab shared that his last rites will be conducted on Tuesday.
Expressing profound sorrow, the family announced, “With heavy hearts, we announce the unfortunate demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, following a prolonged illness.”
Pankaj Udhas, known not only for his mastery in Ghazal but also for his notable contributions as a playback singer in Hindi cinema, including iconic films like “Naam”, “Saajan”, and “Mohra”, leaves behind a legacy cherished by many.
