India’s cleanest cities in Swachh Survekshan Abhiyan 2019
India, the land of diversity is improving very fast. In 2014 authorities of India launched an Abhiyan ’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and the people are taking efforts to keep their clean city and also green. In the year 2019, many cities participated in this Survey and even encouraged the citizens to take part in the campaign. This is a national movement that aims at maintaining the cleanliness of all Indian areas.
- Indore, Madhya Pradesh
Indore is the largest and cleanest city in Madhya Pradesh has proved that a city can be kept clean with its citizens. It is acknowledged as the number one cleanest city in India by the Swachh Sarvekshan, in this year. Indore has been one of the fore-runners in the development of the country in the era of modernization. The educational hubs in this city have both IIT and IIM. Even the citizens’ residents carry small dustbins in their car to prevent throwing of wastes on the roads. And the children are made aware of the dangers caused due to littering.
2.Mysore, Karnataka
Mysore is the largest city and also topped the cleanest city list. In 2019, it has bagged the third rank as per the Swachh Survekshan ratings and segregation of dry and wet wastes has contributed towards the cleanliness of the city. The segregation plants aim at producing superior and pure quality manure. And the sale of wastes produces adequate revenue for its corporation. These growing efforts also contribute to increased tourism.
3.Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
Snuggled on the banks of the Kshipra River, the sacred city of Ujjain draws pilgrims across the country. The municipal corporation has put considerable resources to make the cleanest city in India. It is believed that with these efforts, the cultural and religious sites can be unique and beautifully preserved. Several cleanliness measures are also taking place on the river bank for proper disposal of domestic and religious waste. The Government is also taking initiatives to provide sanitation and drinking water facilities across Ujjain.
4.Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra
.Navi Mumbai Located on the western coast of Maharashtra, the planned city of Navi Mumbai is emerging as a major economic hub in India. This is the only city in the state of Maharashtra that has been one of the top rankers in the list. This Corporation has shown persistent efforts in keeping the city clean.
5.Bhilai Nagar, Chhatisgarh
Bhilai Nagar is a prime industrial hub located in Chattisgarh. This year, the city has grabbed the eleventh spot Swachh Survekshan Survey. The Municipal Corporation is also taking care of the sanitation facilities in the city. There are community and public toilets scattered across the region that promotes cleanliness and hygiene.
6.Jamshedpur, Jharkhand
Jamshedpur is the most beautiful city in Jharkhand as well as one of the cleanest cities in the country. It is the fifteenth cleanest city in India after the Swachh Survekshan Survey. It is Jharkhand’s first city to dump wastes in a scientific landfill site that minimizes the risks of methane emission and groundwater contamination. Four acres of vacant land has been used for this purpose. The thick layer ensures that the wastes get soaked before seeping underground and the leachate is treated at the Jusco Plant in Bara. Some of the areas also focus on collecting door-to-door waste and segregate the same.
7.New Delhi, NDMC Area,
NDMC is the area under the administration of the New Delhi Municipal Council. NDMC urban locality has bagged the fifth position and earned the title of India Cleanest City’ in 2019. The council has also installed many underground bins to prevent openly dumping of wastes. Even the residents of NDMC are actively participating in the initiatives to bring a change in their locality.
8.Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh
Tirupati is a revered pilgrimage site located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. There is no trash or litter on the streets and the building walls are free from graffiti. Even the parks, vacant spaces and platforms look clean that adds to the tidiness of Tirupati. These visually impressive wall paintings greet the devotees as soon as they step foot in this holy center. The authorities are especially focusing on the beautification of the city to attract more pilgrims and tourists across the globe. The officials are also organizing various cleanliness drives where over health staff, revenue personnel, engineers as well as the citizens are participating.
