- Chandigarh, April 23 – The first meeting of the Haryana Water Resources Authority, constituted with the objective of maintaining groundwater levels and tackling water crisis, was held today under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer Haryana Water Resources Authority, Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian. Chairperson, Smt. Keshni Anand Arora joined the meeting through video conferencing.
- During the meeting applications received by state government seeking permission to extract groundwater were reviewed. Discussions regarding the preparation of a draft for such industries under MSME, which require less than 10 kiloliters of water per day, were held. Apart from this, drafting of policy for capacity of 100-500 kiloliters and above, use of saline water, and related rates were also discussed during the meeting.
- In addition to this, linking of the applications of the Central Ground Water Board Authority with the ‘Haryana Water Resources Authority’, setting up various advisory committees to resolve special issues related to water resources, preparing a management plan for effective control over waterlogging in the state was also discussed in detail. During the meeting, the formulation of a ‘State Water Management Plan’ for the sustainable development and conservation of water resources in the state, was discussed as well.
