CM directs DCs to assess losses to crops due to snow and hailstorm
A high-level meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to review the immense losses caused to crops and fruits in the State due to untimely snow, hailstorm and heavy rains.
Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners of the State to assess the losses to the crops in their respective district so that the loss and damage report could be sent to the Centre for getting relief.
Chief Minister said that untimely snow, hailstorm and rains have caused heavy losses to the apple, wheat and peas in almost all the district of the State, which was a matter of concern. He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to ask the insurance agencies to send their agents to assess the losses to the crops that had been covered under the Crop Insurance Scheme, so that the farmers and horticulturists could be provided compensation immediately.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Technical Education and Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda, Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Forests Minister Rakesh Pathania, Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and other officers attended the meeting.
