Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala has strictly warned hoarders who are hoarding essential commodities and selling them at a price higher than the fixed price in the midst of such sensitive times of Corona pandemic.

• Chandigarh, April 25 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala has strictly warned hoarders who are hoarding essential commodities and selling them at a price higher than the fixed price in the midst of such sensitive times of Corona pandemic. He said that strict action will be taken against such violators and has instructed the officers of the Food and Supplies Department to frequently monitor availability and supply of essential commodities.
• The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, today took a review meeting of the departmental officers and gave necessary guidelines.
• The Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala reviewed the availability and pricing of essential commodities like Oxygen, Oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir, Tocilizumab, Injectable anticoagulants like enoxaparin etc. After the review meeting, he informed that in this second wave of Covid-19, the State Government is keeping strict vigil to ensure the availability and supply of essential commodities. He said that after observing 22 essential commodities, it was found that in the past few days the prices of pulses have increased by about 3% and oil by about 4 to 4.5 %. Prices of other commodities have also increased in some districts.
• In this regard, the Deputy Chief Minister has issued directions to all the District Food and Supplies Controllers to ensure the availability and supply of all the 22 essential items daily by establishing contact with the wholesalers of their respective districts. If the trucks filled with the essential goods of the wholesalers are stopped in the neighboring States, then the Movement Pass of those trucks should be got issued after coordinating with the concerned district administration so that the movement of the essential goods does not get disturbed. The supply of essential commodities from neighbouring states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, etc should be ensured and closely monitored on daily basis.
• He said that in addition to this, all the District Food and Supplies Controllers have also been instructed that all the District Controllers will form various inspection teams in their respective districts, which will include the representative of the District Administration and Inspector of the Weights and Measurements Department. By running a comprehensive checking campaign, it will be ensured that no shopkeepers are hoarding Oxygen, Oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir, Tocilizumab, Injectable anticoagulants like enoxaparine etc. nor selling them at more than the fixed price. In case of violation in this regard, strict action should be taken against the concerned under the Legal Metrology Act / Indian Penal Code / Drugs & Cosmetic Act. Police assistance should also be sought if required. It should also be ensured that hoarding and black marketing of various essential commodities is not done and this should be closely monitored.
• The Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that he has also written a DO letter to the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Sh. Piyush Goyal, in which he has requested the Central Governemnt that Oxygen, Oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir, Tocilizumab, Injectable anticoagulants like enoxaparine etc should be included in the list of essential commodities under the Essential Commodities Act for at least 6 months so that the production, availability and distribution of these life saving items at reasonable prices can be publicly monitored.
