Hoshiarpur/Chandigarh August 15:
The Health Minister, Punjab, Chetan Singh Jouramajra today said that the Aam Aadmi Clinics would bring about a radical transformation in the healthcare sector. He also said that the Health Department is fully committed to ensure quality health services to the people. The Minister expressed these views here today at village Basiala falling under Block Posi, District Hoshiarpur on the occasion of inaugurating an Aam Aadmi Clinic in the presence of Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Earlier, the Minister was accorded Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Punjab Police.
Bowing in reverence to the martyrs sacrificing their lives in the freedom movement, the Minister said that the people are breathing in the air of freedom only because of the sacrifice of these hallowed martyrs. While inspecting the Aam Aadmi Clinic, the Minister said that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has dedicated 75 Aam Aadmi Clinics to the people today on the occasion of 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He further divulged that 8 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened in the district out of which three have been formally inaugurated today. He also mentioned that apart from the Aam Aadmi Clinic at Basiala, the Aam Aadmi Clinic at Bahadurpur in Hoshiarpur has been inaugurated by the Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains while another such clinic at Ahiyapur (Dasuya) has been inaugurated by the MLA, Urmur, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill.
Disclosing more, the Minister said that the people hailing from the District would be provided free treatment at the Aam Aadmi Clinics alongwith free medicines. The clinics would ensure the OPD and family planning services besides 41 tests free of cost.
Elaborating about the steps being undertaken to bolster the healthcare sphere, Mr. Jouramajra said that 16 medical colleges are coming up in the State which is a proof of the commitment of the State Government’s priority towards the health services. Till August 31st, the medicines would be made available in all the Government hospitals of the State and the shortfall of the doctors apart from other staff would also be made good soon.
The Minister also appreciated and expressed gratitude to the family of Late NRI Mr. Kartar Singh Basiala which had constructed the Aam Aadmi Clinic in the village and handed it over to the Punjab Government.
The Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Mr. Jai Krishan Rori lauded the dynamic initiative in the form of the Aam Aadmi Clinics and expressed confidence that these clinics would provide quality health services to the people of the region.
Among others present on the occasion included MLA Dasuya Karamvir Singh Ghumman, SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal, ADC General Amit Mahajan, SDM Hoshiarpur Shivraj Singh Bal, Director Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra, Civil Surgeon Dr. Amarjit Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar, Lok Sabha Incharge Aam Aadmi Party Dr. Harvinder Singh Bakshi, Harminder Singh Sandhu and Harjinder Singh.
