Lalewal of district SBS Nagar as African swine fever (ASF) affected zones after confirmation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) -National High Security Animal Disease Institute, Bhopal of ASF in the samples from these areas, informed Mr. Laljit Singh Bhullar, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development, Punjab.
He said that restrictions under the provisions of “The Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009” and the “National Action Plan for Control, Containment and Eradication of African Swine Fever (June 2020)” have been strictly imposed in these areas for the prevention of the disease and 0 to 1 kilometre area of these areas would be notified as “infected zones” while 1 to 10 KM (9 KM) area would be “surveillance zones”. No live or dead pig, meat or material shall be taken out of or brought into the infected zones, he added.
