Antonio Maino the Personality Behind?

Antonio Maino was the former name of Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi is now the congress president. she was born on 9TH December 1946. she was born in Lusiana in Italy to parents Stefano and Paola Maino.

Antonio was brought up in a traditional catholic family in the town of Turin. her father Stefano was a mason and had a construction business. he was a prisoner of war in Russia after the second world war.

 

Sonia Maino had a desire to become a flight attendant. She enrolled herself at the Bell Educational Trust to study the English Language in Cambridge. there she met Rajiv Gandhi who had enrolled for an engineering course there. this was in the year 1965. They met at Varsity Roof Bar. they got married in 1968 according to the Hindu ceremony.

Sonia and Rajiv never had a bent towards politics. Rajiv worked as a pilot and Sonia Gandhi was a homemaker. only after the death of Sanjay Gandhi in 1982, Rajiv Gandhi entered politics.

Sonia Gandhi proclaimed Indian citizenship in 1983 and entered politics. she became the leader of the party in 1998. she first contested elections in 1999 from Bareilly and Amethi and won both the seats. she chose to represent Amethi.

She is an inspiring leader and a woman of principles.
