On Sunday the Assam government have ordered shutting down of the educational institutions, gymnasiums, swimming pools, and cinema halls with the immediate effect till 29 March due to the outbreak of coronavirus outbreak. In a press conference the chief secretary of Assam Kumar Sanjay Krishna said, “Even though no positive case has been detected in the state so far, we are taking all precautionary measures.”
He also said that all the exams which have been scheduled until the mentioned dates have been canceled. Along with this, all the programs scheduled at government auditoriums have also been canceled. It has been hoping that those owned by private firms will also follow. He said that all the deputy commissioners have been asked to discourage all the public gatherings in their districts. He said the state government is fully equipped to handle any crisis arising out of the pandemic.
