Chandigarh, December 20:
The State Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to providing hassle free, effective and accountable governance to the people. In the same direction, the Governance Reforms Department is facilitating the 430 civic services to the people in 537 Sewa Kendras as part of the Governance Reforms Department slogan ‘People’s Government at People’s Door’.
It was stated by Governance Reforms Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer during the state level event organised today under ‘Good Governance Week’. Addressing Deputy Commissioners and Field Officers of all districts through video conference at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh, he said that DCs should ensure that at least once a week visit to Sewa Kendras where the feedback of the people can be obtained, leading to speedily ensuring services to the people.
The Minister said that efforts should be made to publicise the public welfare schemes launched by the government and make people aware regarding the same. Employees who provide better services in the Sewa Kendra should be honoured to boost their morale.
Similarly, during this Good Governance Week’, special camps should be organized especially for the people living in border districts and remote areas to provide civic services closer to home.
Meet Hayer said that the unnecessary documents required for many services should be reduced. Therefore, a portal is being created to get feedback from people. He said that the department is constantly reviewing the works in which pending cases are involved. Apart from this, further reduction should be brought in number of send back cases.
Earlier, Principal Secretary Tejveer Singh while addressing said that the Government of India is celebrating ‘Good Governance Week’ from 19 to 25 December across the country, the purpose of which is to provide better, easier and transparent civic services to the people. Highlighting the new initiatives, he directed the field officers to take new steps to make people’s lives better.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioners of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Fazilka also spoke and gave information about the welfare programs in their respective districts.
