Casteist remarks : Jalandhar police registered case after intervention of SC commission
Chandigarh, October 19:
After the intervention of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, a case has been registered by the Jalandhar Rural Police under section 3(1) of the SC/ST Act, 1989 (Prevention of Atrocities Act) against Balkar Singh S/O Harvinder Singh who made castiest remarks.
Divulging in this regard,Spokesperson of SC Commission said that Manjit Singh son of Harbhajan Singh, resident of village Chak kalan Tehsil Nakodar District Jalandhar, complained to the commission that Balkar Singh alias Balkari son of Harvinder Singh made casteist remarks to him when he was removing the tree cores from the field. He said that no action was taken by the police on the complaint of the complaintant.
In this regard, the Commission While sending a complaint to SSPJalandhar (Rural), wrote that appropriate action should be taken against the accused in this case. After investigating the matter, SSP Jalandhar Rural informed the Commission that a case has been registered against Balkar Singh alias Balkari under Section 3 (1) SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 and The challan has also been presented in the honorable court.
