Chandigarh Administrator Reviews Arrangements in the City
Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over the Daily War Room meeting.
The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh, and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan.

The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services, and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.
WAR ROOM DECISIONS
It was decided to keep Wholesale Mandi, Sector 26 CLOSED on Monday for sanitization and cleaning. There will be no distribution of vegetables and fruits by the Administration’s buses on Monday. The residents can avail the facility of Essential Shops opened in markets from 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM and home delivery from 09:00 AM to 09:00 PM.
The Governor directed that the flour mills should be kept open so that the beneficiaries receiving the wheat under PMGKAY can get it milled. He expressed happiness about the arrangements made for the procurement of wheat from the farmers. He directed all the chiefs of medical institutions to ensure that critical non-COVID cases are also attended on priority.
He especially focused that proper sanitization and cleanliness should be ensured in the hospital’s premises so that those venues do not become centers for further infection.
Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that 84,112 cooked food packets have been distributed among the destitute and needy persons in various parts of the city. He also informed that Rs.1.59 crores have been received in the local COVID Fund through Red Cross. He further informed that 300 MT. of wheat has been procured from the farmers.

KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that sanitization through drones has been started in the capital city. He also stated that the distribution of baby food for the needy mothers has been arranged by the Municipal Corporation. The Administrator expressed satisfaction that all delivery boys of online companies (Zomato, Swiggy, etc.), Milk vendors and Traders have been medically examined through special camps.
GGP Police Sanjay Beniwal mentioned that curfew is being strictly implemented in the city. The drones will also be utilized for detecting persons, who are violating curfew orders.
Finance Secretary A K Sinha, stated that 13,500 families have been distributed wheat and pulses under PMGKAY.
Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health stated that 4,800 Rapid Testing Kits have been received, which will be utilized as per the advice of medical experts. The Governor directed him to coordinate with Panjab University, Punjab Engineering College and other NGOs, so that blood donation camps could be organized while maintaining social distance.
Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that as per the Ministry of Home guidelines, a detailed Containment Plan is under preparation. He also stated that as per Government of India’s directions, outsiders entering the city will be quarantined for 14 days either in homes or in Government Facilities to prevent spread of infection from outside. He, however, stated that this will not apply to neighbouring residents coming for government duty or essential service.
Sh. V P Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT appealed to the Chandigarh residents to download Aarogya Setu Application, which will act as a preventive measure for their protection against COVID-19. He also requested the citizens to wear masks in public places and to follow hand hygiene and stay indoors to restrict spread of COVID-19 in the city.
The Administrator expressed serious concern about the infection of Health workers and directed that the Hospital authorities must strictly follow the protocol laid down by ICMR while treating COVID19 patients.
He also stressed that the Administration must rigorously do the Contact Tracing of these two new Positive Cases and ensure that the infection is contained. He advised Director PGIMER to ensure that proper safety, security and sanitisation is done in the campus so that there is no reoccurrence of such infection.
