Chandigarh, 09 September
Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday assured the Patwaris and Kanungos of the Revenue Department that all their legitimate demands and issues will be resolved soon.
In a meeting with the representatives of Revenue Patwar Union and Revenue Kanungo Association in the presence of Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa at his office here, the Finance Minister gave a patient hearing to their demands and issues.
Regarding the shortage of patwaris in the revenue department, the finance minister said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had started the recruitment campaign from the very first day and accordingly, the recruitment of 700 patwaris in the revenue department is being done shortly. He said that apart from this, the process will be started soon to fill all the vacant posts.
Discussing the unions’ issues related to the finance department, Cheema said that their demands were being considered sympathetically and all the legitimate demands would be fulfilled soon as per the rules and norms of the Finance Department. He said that another meeting with the unions would be called soon in this regard, if needed.
The meeting was also attended by K A P Sinha, Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Rehabilitation, and Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Secretary Finance.
