CM enhances the Uniform Allowance of HP Police Officers to Rs 15,000

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while addressing the Meet of Himachal Pradesh Police Service Officers here last evening, announced enhancement of Uniform Allowance of Himachal Pradesh Police Officers from existing Rs. 3675 to Rs 15,000 per annum.

Chief Minister said that the State Police was one of the most disciplined and dedicated Police Forces of the country which was a matter of honour for every Himachali. Despite tough conditions and odd hours duty, the State Police has always maintained a high standard of professionalism, said the Chief Minister.

Jai Ram Thakur said the State Government has also ensured that best working conditions be provided to the Police force to keep their morale high. He said that hundreds of posts of police personnel of different categories have been filled during the last four and half years period and over 2500 police personnel have been promoted. He said that several police posts and police stations have been opened to ensure effective policing and to maintain law and order. He said that one new Police district has been opened at Nurpur in Kangra district.

Chief Minister said that the State Government has also decided to upgrade 16 posts of DSPs to ASPs, which would go a long way in removing promotional stagnation in the force. He said that with the advancement in technology, the functioning of the Police Force has undergone a sea change. He said that the Police Force must also upgrade and enhance their capacity to meet the challenges of the fast technological advancements. He also emphasised the need for better coordination between the police and the masses.

Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, while welcoming the Chief Minister, said that the State Police Department has been strengthened during the tenure of the present State Government. He said that as many as 350 vehicles have been provided to the Police Department by the State Government to ensure effective mobility of the Force. In addition to this, Rs. 300 crore have been spent on creating effective infrastructure and modernization of the Police Force, said DGP.

Superintendent of Police Intelligence Sandeep Bhardwaj also welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion and detailed a few demands of the HPS officers.

Principal Secretary Home Bharat Khera, Advisor-cum-Principal Private Secretary to CM Dr. R.N. Batta, Inspector General Rameshwar Thakur were present on the occasion among others.
