Governor pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar paid floral tribute to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at The Ridge Shimla, today.
On the occasion, the Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi had established the ideals of adopting truth, non-violence and religion in his life. He had only one message in his Swaraj movement and that was Swadeshi, Ram Rajya and Rural Development. He adopted Indian traditions with truth and integrity. The Governor also visited the photo exhibition based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Later, the Governor also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk on his birth anniversary.
“Both the great personalities of the Nation worked towards strengthening the rural economy. Today, the country is moving in that direction and to become self-reliant, more efforts are being given to rural economy”, said Arlekar.
Patriotic songs and bhajans were also recited on the occasion.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Vice Chairperson Saksham Gudia Board HP Roopa Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla Aditya Negi and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
