Hantavirus – A new scary virus in China with one man dead

Amidst the scare after the break of coronavirus all over the world, a new virus has emerged, Hantavirus.

Cases of swine flu and bird flu have already been registered. A man in china has been tested positive of Hanta Virus. A man from Yunnan Province died while going back to Shandong Province. He worked on a bus. Other people who were on the bus have also been tested.

What is Hantavirus?

Hantaviruses are a family of viruses that spread mainly by rodents. This disease is not airborne and can be spread only if people come in contact with the urine and faeces or saliva or rodents. It can also be caused by a bite of the infected host.

Symptoms of Hantavirus

Fatigue, dizziness, chills and abdominal problems are the common symptoms of Hantavirus. It has a mortality rate of 39% according to CDC. If untreated, it can cause cough and shortness of breath.  Although, it cannot be passed from person to person.
