Haryana Chief Minister Has Stressed Upon Adopting A Scientific Approach To Check Criminal Incidents

On the first day of Shivir, Chief Minister discusses the role of the state with regard to the latest technologies, forensic science and artificial intelligence in national security

Chandigarh, October 27- Haryana Chief Minister has stressed upon adopting a scientific approach to check criminal incidents and said that along with face and biometric recognition, now work should also be done on voice recognition as well.

The campus of Gujarat Forensic Science University should be expanded to other states including Haryana so that the task of arresting and punishing criminals becomes easier, said Sh. Manohar Lal in his address on the first day of the two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ started under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Surajkund on Thursday.

Welcoming the Union Home and Cooperation Minister on his arrival at Surajkund, Sh. Manohar Lal said that it is a commendable effort of the Central Government to use information technology to tackle the challenges faced by law.

During this two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’, the Center and the states will sit together to chalk out the strategies required for maintaining law and order and controlling criminal incidents.

The Chief Minister, being the host of this two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ also welcomed the Governors, Chief Ministers, Home Ministers and delegates of different states.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that with the increasing use of technology, criminals have started adopting new ways to carry out their illegal activities.

“To tighten the noose around these ‘cyber thugs’, the Haryana government has also done the work to make the state police IT efficient. Many times it was also seen that the criminals prepare fake documents and got passports, but going a  step ahead of these ‘thugs’  the state police have identified 250 such people. Out of which, 126 were also arrested and the remaining cases are under investigation,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister also suggested that all the other states including Haryana should work on drafting a Common Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among themselves for the prevention of criminal incidents and to nab the criminals.

This Common Memorandum of Understanding will also prove instrumental in data sharing of activities and other important information about people involved in various crimes. This will also make it easier to arrest and punish the criminals, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister gave significant suggestions regarding the role of states in strengthening of national security, the use of the latest technologies, forensic science and artificial intelligence.
