2: Scorecards Soon at jeemain.nta.nic.in

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the result for the engineering entrance exam – JEE Main 2022 today. The answer key has already been released.  The results will be available at jeemain.nta.nic.in. As per the criterion considering only those who obtain rank in the top 2.5 lakh in main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

Mridul had scored the highest ever marks in JEE Advanced. He secured rank 1 in last year’s result. He obtained 348 marks out of 360 marks or 99.66 percentile. Earlier, the highest marks obtained were by Chirag Falor, who had topped Advanced by scoring 352 marks with 88 per cent marks in 2020. A native of Rajasthan, Mridul also cracked the IISc entrance, KVPY as well. Talking about his preparations, he said he did not have a fixed timetable but instead focused on daily targets. “Every morning I would decide on completing a topic or two per day and dig deep into each of them. If I finished before the day ended I would talk to my friends,” said Agarwal.

Delhi’s Kavya Chopra and Ghaziabad’s Pal Aggarwal are the first women who were ranked first in the JEE Main 2021. Both credit their success to their parents who never said no to them and let them make their choices. While Chopra is now an IITian, Agarwal got admission into IISc Bangalore by cracking the KVPY exam. She now aims at becoming an astrophysicist – this field too has lesser participation of women.

The marks obtained by students are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. The percentile score will be the normalized score for the examination (instead of the raw marks of the candidate). It will be used for the preparation of the merit lists. Percentile scores will be calculated up to 7 decimal places to avoid the bunching effect and reduce ties.

Healthy competition keeps one motivated and helps stay on track, especially when the exam preparation goes on for years, believes Sai Lokesh Reddy who got AIR 5 in JEE Advanced 2021. Reddy was enrolled in Narayana residential school where he prepared for the IIT entrance since class 11. He believes having like-minded friends has helped him attain the feat. “I had made up mind in class 8 that I want to study from an IIT. At that time one of my relatives had cracked an IIT entrance and he was celebrated in the family before that I did not know anything about IIT or JEE. I started to research and started preparing since then. I brushed up my basic skills including studying NCERTs and improving my English language skills and started focused preparation from class 11 onwards,” said the 17-year-old.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has taken a unique initiative to make its high-quality courses in Computer Science available to everyone. The faculty from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering created a portal containing the core courses that can be accessed by educational institutions, students, and anyone else interested. The core Computer Science courses that are available on the portal- nsm.iitm.ac.in/cse/ are on programming, data structures, computer organisation and algorithms. Each course has YouTube recordings of live lectures taught to the students at IIT Madras during the pandemic.
