Maharashtra declares cancelled final year exams 2020

Final year exams have been cancelled, declares state government Maharashtra

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray had announced, on Sunday that the final semester examination of the graduation and post-graduation students has been cancelled. The evaluation will be done on the basis of previous semesters. 

He said that there were many suggestions and demands when it came to the university degree examination. After the consultation with the vice-chancellors of many universities, they have decided to cancel the final year examination.

Thackeray also has said that due to the situation it is not possible to conduct the examination even if it is to be allowed to conduct in July. Although, the students cannot wait for the long as they have to enter into the next phase of their lives and careers. Moreover, whosoever wanted to improve their score or grades can take the exam which has been scheduled later. 

In this regard, the education expert and former vice-chancellor of Savitribai Phule University, Pune (SPPU), has devised a model to conduct the examination by maintaining a physical distancing. According to his opinion that the students should not be simply promoted. 

The model which he has developed concentrates on how the examinations can be taken verbally, along with cutting through the time lost in the process. Similarly,  Rajesh Pande, a member of the management council says that examination is a very important part of the academic year. The education expert Dhananjay Kulkarni by saying that the decision taken by the Maharashtra government is not in the academic interest. He also said, if the examinations are not being conducted then the entire batch will get the stamp of corona batch in their mark sheet. Therefore, some substitute methods can be taken to come up with the situation.
