Minister Balkar Singh reviews medical facilities at flood-affected villages
Punjab Local Government Minister Balkar Singh on Thursday took stock of facilities being provided to flood-affected people in Lohian and Shahkot areas. He visited the medical camps held by the local health department and directed the officials to ensure no one is left without medical assistance.
The Minister said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led state government is standing by the people of the state during this hour of crisis and no stone would be left unturned to provide relief to flood-hit people. He further stated that the state government has deputed NDRF, SDRF, and Army to carry out rescue and relief operations in a smooth and coordinated manner so that people get all the necessary assistance from the government. He stated that the relief workers are providing food packets, rations, and other necessary items to affected people through motorboats.
He thanked Rajya Sabha Member and renowned environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal for his services to the people of this area and stated that the volunteers of Sant Seechewal have been extending a helping hand to flood-hit villages from day one. He said that Sant Seechewal was involved in cleaning the river Satluj so as to minimize the effect of such calamity.
He further mentioned that the state government has issued requisite funds to flood-affected districts so as to cope with this crisis effectively adding that no stone would be left unturned to assist people amid this natural calamity. He reiterated that the state government has given top priority to saving the lives of people from floods and all-out efforts were being made in this mission.
