Rumours, the 21-day Lockdown extension is baseless
A report which claims that the government was debating extending the lockdown, alarmed over the infection risk posed by the mass exodus of the migrants trying to reach home, desperate for food and shelter. Meanwhile, there are few rumors and media reports which say that the government will extend the 21-day Lockdown when it expires. The cabinet secretary has denied these reports, and stated that they are baseless. They called it fake news. “I’m surprised to see such reports, there is no such plan of extending the lockdown,” Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, the government’s top bureaucrat.

The government sources say that in the coming week they will be able to make a fair assessment of the situation and identify the areas to isolate if any, to ensure if there is a coordinated approach to deal with the highly infectious disease. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered the three-week total lockdown until April 14 to break the chain of transmission of coronavirus, which is spreading rapidly from person to person. Along with the lockdown he also appealed to the citizens to maintain social distancing.
In India, there are more than 1,100 coronavirus cases now, including 30 deaths. This disease had taken around 3400 deaths around the globe with many countries under a complete lockdown.
