Sandhwan launches Shaheed Bhagat Singh Education Fund
Chandigarh, August 16:
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Minister of Higher Education Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer along with, Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahney has launched Shaheed Bhagat Singh Education Fund for funding the economically weak bright students for higher studies. The Fund of Rs. 50 lakhs per annum have been contributed by Vikramjit Singh Sahney, who is also President of World Punjabi Organisation and Sun Foundation.
The fund will be allocated to various bright economically weak students who want to pursue higher studies but could not do it due to lack of funds. A Committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Vice Chairman Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer to scrutinize and decide the scholarship to the needy students.
Sahney also announced that free skills will be provided to the youth of Punjab in various job oriented courses all over the Punjab free of cost. Five such world skill centers are being set up by his NGO Sun Foundation in partnership with Punjab government. World Skill Centre is already running in Amritsar where one thousand youth are being provided jobs.
