A Class 12 student from Tiruvallur district’s Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School was discovered dead in her dormitory on Monday. There was no suicide note found. In the Kallakurichi area, the first of these four deaths was recorded on July 13. A number of individuals, including senior police officers, were hurt during the violent demonstrations and fires that followed the murder of the pupil at a private residential school. After authorities discovered a message accusing two instructors of “humiliating her for her academic performance,” five people—including the school’s principal and two teachers—were detained in the Kallakurichi case.
The girl’s parents, however, alleged that the crime scene had signs of physical struggle and moved court. The Madras High Court then ordered a repeat autopsy.
