Schoolgirl deaths in Tamil Nadu, 4th Case In 2 Weeks

Three Class 12 girls and now a Class 11 girl have died in the state in the past two weeks — three of them in the past two days. Adding to the series of schoolgirl deaths in Tamil Nadu over the past couple of weeks, a Class 11 student was found dead at her home in Sivakasi yesterday. This is suspected to be a case of suicide.

A police officer told NDTV, “We will not say anything till this investigation is completed.” The girl was found hanging at her home. No suicide note has been found yet. An officer said she often suffered from severe stomach ache. Three Class 12 girls and now a Class 11 girl have died in the state in the past two weeks — three of them in the past two days.

Strange but true incident that has raised eyebrows

Hours before the tragedy in Sivakasi, a Class 12 student was discovered dead in the Cuddalore district. The Cuddalore girl cited her “inability to fulfil IAS goals imposed on her by her parents” in a four-page suicide letter, according to Police Inspector Karthik. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin Wednesday urged female students to avoid suicide thoughts in light of the frequent fatalities. “Never should a girl be forced to consider suicide. Convert challenges into successes, “He continued by saying that anyone who mistreat pupils physically, mentally, or sexually will face harsh punishment.

Pressure from parents and teachers led to suicide by 12th class girl

A Class 12 student from Tiruvallur district’s Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School was discovered dead in her dormitory on Monday. There was no suicide note found. In the Kallakurichi area, the first of these four deaths was recorded on July 13. A number of individuals, including senior police officers, were hurt during the violent demonstrations and fires that followed the murder of the pupil at a private residential school. After authorities discovered a message accusing two instructors of “humiliating her for her academic performance,” five people—including the school’s principal and two teachers—were detained in the Kallakurichi case.

The girl’s parents, however, alleged that the crime scene had signs of physical struggle and moved court. The Madras High Court then ordered a repeat autopsy.
