Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa elected as the new president of SAD
Shiromani Akali Dal has elected their new president. The new chief of SAD is Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Although the party led by Badal described it as illegal and fraud because the election had been held in gurudwara.
Although Dhindsa stated that they were fed up with the SAD’s working style and they want to revive original ethos and principles for which the party was constituted. However SAD had objected to fraud committed by Dhindsa. As Dhindsa and his son, the former state finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa was expelled from the SAD in February for anti-party activities. Now they have backed by the Congress government in Punjab.

This is not the very first time when SAD had split or disputed over the control. Being the second oldest party or the country they have witnessed several splits but more than the technicalities the control of election symbol or the leaders at the time of the split.
With the long history of the splits, SAD says that they had no objection to a new party but the only objection was that Dhindsa committed fraud by taking the nomenclature of the SAD.
