Uber and ola services will be shut till March 31 in Delhi

Due to the lockdown in the capital, services of the ola and Uber will not be able to work in Delhi till March 31. The Government on Sunday has announced on Sunday that the city will be in lockdown from March 23 to 31. Under this, no public transport, including private buses, taxis, autorickshaws will be allowed. And that is why services like Ola and Uber have also been shut down till 31st March. 

“Uber is complying with all Central and State Government directives related to its services for containing the spread of Coronavirus.”- an Uber spokesperson.

“Will enable a minimal network of vehicles to support essential services in cities, wherever applicable, as part of this national effort to reduce the contagion of COVID-19”.- An Ola spokesperson said the company. 

These companies play a major role in the taxis running in the national capital. They had already suspended temporarily shared rides on their respected platforms.

The Government of Centre and state have decided to lock down 80 districts completely across the country where the coronavirus cases have been reported.

In view of the need to stop the spread of the deadly COVID-19, it has been agreed that there is an urgent need to extend the restrictions on the movement of non-essential passenger transport. The districts where lockdown was announced are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Delhi will be locked down from 6 am on March 23 and continue till midnight on March 31.

The borders of the city will remain sealed during the lockdown. Still, the essential services related to health, food, water, and power supply will continue, and 25 per cent of the DTC buses will run to transport people associated with essential services.

All the domestic and international flights remain operational in Delhi.
