Purpose of Sanskrit Day (Sanskrit Diwas) Celebration:-

Sanskrit language, which has the status of Dev language, is now losing its existence. In India too, the number of people who read, write, and understand it is very less. Sanskrit day (Sanskrit Diwas / National Sanskrit Day) is celebrated to remind society of the importance and necessity of Sanskrit. So that as time progresses people do not forget that Sanskrit is also a language. Nowadays we have seen that so many people are showing their interest to learn foreign and other languages. But they themselves are unaware of the language of their country.

When is World Sanskrit Day 2023:-

According to the Hindu calendar, Sanskrit day falls on the day of Shravan Purnima. This year World Sanskrit Day is falling on 31st August 2023. There is another interesting fact that in 1969 the first Sanskrit Day (Sanskrit Diwas / National Sanskrit Day) was celebrated. On this day many types of programs are organized to promote the Sanskrit language and many activities are organized.

Importance of Sanskrit Day (Sanskrit Diwas):-

Sanskrit Day is celebrated at the national and global levels. The main premise behind celebrating it is that people understand the importance of this language and our new generation should be introduced to this language of India. The Sanskrit language is considered the first language in India and it is not just a language, but a culture that needs to be cherished. Therefore, it is very important to remind every Indian once a year that the language of his own country is being left behind somewhere.

The people of Sanskrit are also considered less because they have not given it a place like the English language in India. Many people understand that today without English, it will not work or Sanskrit is an old language. He feels that while speaking it, no one will think of him as educated as he would think in English. Therefore, the importance of World Sanskrit day (Sanskrit Diwas / National Sanskrit Day) is very much in today’s time. So that Sanskrit can regain its lost identity.

Origin of Sanskrit Language:-

It is believed that the Sanskrit language was born about three and a half thousand years ago i.e. around 1500 BC, India is the birthplace of this language of the Indo-Aryan family. Only people from a few countries outside India have little knowledge of this language. If we talk about the history of Sanskrit script in written form, then it dates back to two thousand BC, the Rigveda text was written in this language.

Sanskrit Day (Sanskrit Diwas / National Sanskrit Day) is celebrated across the country in all the schools and colleges which run from the national level to the state and district level. On this occasion, celebrations of Sanskrit Kavi Sammelan, writer’s seminar, the speech of students and recitation competition, etc. are organized.
