Unlock 1 permits people to move within the stipulated time frame but we need to be extra cautious during this period as the fear of spread of novel corona virus looms large said Mukhtiar Singh Deputy Director Horticulture. He said supporting Mission Fateh launched to check the spread of corona virus, the Horticulture Department is ensuring uninterrupted supply of fresh fruits and vegetables at the reasonable rates at people’s doorsteps, through clusters of farmers.
This initiative serves twin purpose of saving people from unnecessary market exposure and helping farmers as they manage to sell their produce at reasonable rates directly to consumers, saving middlemen margin. The farmers are operating with the slogan ‘AAPE BIJO, AAPE VECHO'(self-production, self-marketing) and are happy to be the part of the clusters.
He divulged that as per the demand identified by the committee constituted for the purpose, the clusters of the farmers supply fruits and vegetables to the residential colonies. So far, three farmers groups have been formed who are supplying 3 to 4 quintals of fruits and vegetables daily in the different residential societies, with supplies undertaken in Omaxe Society in Mullanpur on Monday. Besides, in keeping with the directions of the State Government, required social distance is being maintained during the supply.
The officers of the horticulture department including Horticulture Development Officer, Kharar Mrs. Vaishali and Ravipal Singh are activelyassisting in this, informed Deputy Director.
