Misleading ads case: SC rejects Patanjali’s apology, warns them to be ready to face action

The Supreme Court’s Firm Stance: Rejects Patanjali’s Apology in Misleading Ad Case

In a decisive move, the Supreme Court stood firm against Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s apology concerning Patanjali’s misleading advertisement issue. Justices delivered a resounding message, cautioning against disobedience and criticizing the Uttarakhand government’s lack of action in the matter.

Despite Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna’s apologies for breaching a court order and pledging compliance, the court refused to relent.

A bench led by Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah presided over the proceedings, underscoring the seriousness of the issue at hand. The apex court made it clear that merely tendering an apology would not suffice. Both Baba Ramdev and the company’s Managing Director, Acharya Krishan, were warned to prepare for potential repercussions.

In a stern admonishment, the court highlighted the imperative for society to grasp the gravity of disregarding court orders. “Tendering apology is not enough. You should suffer the consequences for violating the court’s order. We do not want to be lenient in this case,” asserted the Supreme Court.

This firm stance underscores the importance of upholding advertising laws, signaling that Patanjali Ayurved Ltd must adhere to legal guidelines as mandated by the court.
