Mission Fateh Out of 11200 samples tested till date, 10596 found negative, DC Girish Dayalan
“The District Administration and the Health Department are fully conscious of the enormity of the situation unfolding due to the corona virus and are ensuring effective steps to combat the pandemic.” These views were expressed here today by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan.
He said that the Health Department authorities led by the Civil Surgeon Dr. Manjit Singh have risen to the occasion and ever since the lockdown was imposed in March, the Doctors and Paramedics of the Health Department have been out in the field catering to the medical needs of the people and till date, a total of 11200 samples have been tested. Out of these, 10596 samples have been found negative which brings the percentage to 94 percent.
As of now, out of the total 218 positive cases in the district, 139 have recovered while active cases number 76 and three people have died.
The focus of the District authorities is on the extensive sampling in the high risk areas besides the contact tracing. Furthermore, as part of the strategy evolved to contain the corona virus pandemic, random sampling at the Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) is being done for the returnees from other states as well as for those who belong to the district.
Apart from this, awareness drives at regular intervals are also being undertaken in the District especially in the rural areas to sensitize the people about the importance of following the protocol of the Health Department such as wearing of the masks when going out, Maintaining proper social distance, Washing hands for 20 seconds continuously with the soap as often as possible.
