Chandni Chowk, Other Delhi Markets Go Under Self-imposed Lockdown Amid Covid-19 Spike

The popular Chandni Chowk market in old Delhi and the other wholesale markets in the capital will stay shut till April 25.

The decision was taken by merchants and stakeholders considering exceptional flood in Covid-19 cases.

A few market affiliations have upheld the choice to keep shops shut. Delhi Kirana Committee of Khari Baoli Market and Chemical Merchant Association of Tilak Bazaar has reported that shops will stay shut till April 21.

Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal’s Sanjay Bhargava said that a crisis meeting was approached Sunday to examine the overarching circumstance. It was concluded that shops will stay shut till April 25 considering the “intense state of the infection spreading at extremely enormous volumes”.

While several trade leaders will on Monday hold a meeting with their associations before taking the final call, Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal has announced its decision to close shops in Chandni Chowk from April 19 to 25.
