The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday approached Delhi Police and filed a complaint against the fake news. The board has also advised parents and students not to believe them and panic. This has been done in the wake of rumors that have been spread regarding the exam paper leak on social media.
CBSE asked Delhi Police Special Cell to take stern action against the people involved in circulating the fake news of paper leaks on social media. This had been created a panic amongst the students and the general public.
“It has come to the notice of the Board that many anti-social elements are uploading fake messages like providing CBSE question papers and asking candidates to make payment posting, fake videos about leakage of CBSE questions papers on YouTube (List attached), thus misleading students and parents,” said the Board circular which was issued by the Secretary, Anurag Tripathi.
A senior official at CBSE said that CBSE is also trying to ascertain the genuineness of information being received by tracing and contacting individuals making such complaints and has taken follow-up action for the security of ongoing exams.
“We want cooperation of public not to believe or involve in the fake, unverified news and help in maintaining the sanctity of examinations at all cost,” the official said. Further, they said that the Board is vigilant and active. They are actively identifying and taking action against those who are spreading fake news and rumors. Till now actions have been initiated against the uses of various social media platforms and also against the individuals who are making false and baseless complaints.
