The academic dean of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pankaj Kundra announced that the institute will not hold the entrance examination for admission into the MBBS course in the institute from 2020 batch.
Kundra also said in a notice posted on the institute’s website that now the National Testing Agency would hold the entrance examinations for the admissions into MBBS courses in JIPMER from 2020.
He confirmed that the Union Health and family welfare ministry would hold the common and uniform National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all the medical institutions as per the provisions of section (14) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
“The admission to the MBBS course in Jipmer, Puducherry, and Jipmer, Karaikal, will be made through NEET and the entrance exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency, not by Jipmer from 2020 onwards.” -Pankaj Kundra
