Italy probes Google, Dropbox and Apple over cloud storage services – The computational regulator in Italy has begun investigating the cloud storage services of Apple, Dropbox, and Google responding to the prodigious amount of complaints they were receiving. The complaints were mostly about how the services of these companies were violating the consumer rights directive and involved in unfair practices. The regulator is investigating the details about the usage of user’s data for commercial purposes and how efficiently the companies are indicating the same. The Italian regulators are following in the footsteps of the European Union regulators to have the companies clarify their terms and conditions of service. This would be done for the consumers to have a better idea of how their information is being used. Apart from this, Dropbox is also being investigated for their failure to effectively communicate the conditions of the contract with its consumer. The conditions for pulling out of the contract or implement their rights of consideration haven’t been mentioned clearly.
