Air Pollution Control: A Need of Today

“Air pollution is like an envelope of death that has currently wrapped up the life on Earth”.

The level of air pollution has crossed its major limit in the past few decades. It is estimated that the rising air pollution levels are going to get elevated shortly if immediate steps are not taken.

Talking specifically about India, the winter months are going to present a major challenge in front of the citizens of the country. And this is none other than the challenge of air pollution control. This is mainly because people set off firecrackers during Diwali and apart from this burn plastic, firewood, leaves, and paper to keep themselves warm.

Moreover, the capital of India, Delhi has noticed a 25% decrease in the PM2.5 levels between 2016 to 2018 in comparison to the years between 2011 to 2014. Though this is good news, but the city needs a 65% fall in the PM2.5 levels to have clean air.

Certainly, India can seek inspiration from its neighbor China in this regard. Beijing has dropped out from the list of the 200 most polluted cities in the world. The efforts of the Local Government which included cutting down the use of coal and relocation of polluting plants have shown a remarkable change in the air quality of Beijing.

It is high time that we should realize that air pollution control is the need of today. Along with the Government, we should take small steps that will definitely show a bigger impact in the upcoming times.
