Vigilance Bureau nabs 22 officials in bribery cases during March

Chandigarh, April 21- Haryana State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, has been able to nab 22 government officials red-handed while accepting bribes during the month of March 2022, which includes three Class I officers and 19 Class III employees.

Sharing the information here today, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau informed that the above officials were nabbed accepting bribe from Rs 2000 to Rs 5 lakh. In addition, cases against 13 more officials including three Class I officers, one Class II officer, 7 Class III employees and two private persons have been registered on the basis of complaints/ enquiries under the Prevention of Corruption Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

He said that Bureau has also recommended criminal cases against three gazetted officers, three non-gazetted officers, and 3 private persons in four enquiries conducted during the same period. In addition, it had also sent a report of six special checkings/technical investigations to the government, recommending departmental action against 14 gazetted officers, 5 non-gazetted officers and to recover over Rs 16.25 lakh from the concerned agency.

Briefing about the arrests made in March, he informed that District Town Planner Karnal Vikram and his driver Balbir were caught red-handed receiving bribe of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5000 respectively. Tehsildar Karnal, Rajbaksh was nabbed in connection with the similar case.

Similarly, Chaman Lal Building Inspector, Municipal Council, Palwal was arrested taking Rs 5 lakh bribe while Vijay Kumar Executive Engineer of HSVP Horticulture Wing was apprehended taking bribe of Rs30000.

ESI Devender posted at PS Ateli, Narnaul was arrested taking Rs 50000 bribe, Nirmala Transport Inspector, Bahadurgarh arrested taking bribe of Rs20000, Sub-Inspector Rishipal of Saha Police Station and ESI Kulvinder Singh of CID were nabbed for demanding and accepting Rs 20000, Chand Ram J.E. of UHBVN posted at Babain (Kurukshetra) and Devender, Lineman were nabbed while taking Rs 15000 bribe.

Jaibir, Pharmacist of district jail Jind, ASI Anil Kumar and ASI Bajender were arrested taking Rs 10000 each. Constable Neeraj and Head Constable Sonu, both posted at police post Bahadurgarh were arrested on the charges of demanding and accepting Rs 5000 bribe. Lady HC Poonam was nabbed taking Rs 5000, Manjeet Clerk of Food and Drug Administration Department was arrested taking Rs 5000, Shamsher Singh Deputy Superintendent of Public Health Engineering Department and Sukhbir Clerk of District Industrial Centre, Ambala ware arrested taking Rs 4000 and Rs3000 bribe respectively. Nitin and Ranjit Singh, both Patwaris were nabbed accepting bribe of Rs 2000 each.
