Highlights of the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addresses to media

  1. The finance minister announces an economic package of Rs 1.70 lakh crore, to help especially migrant workers, poor.
  2. Rs 50 lakhs per person as medical insurance cover for doctors, nurses, paramedics and all those who are putting themselves to risk

  5. Under PM Garib Anna Yojna every poor will get 5 kg grains per person per month for the next three months for free, one kg of pulses for each household for free. This will be over and above the current 5 kg they get under NFSA. This will be available to 80 lakh beneficiaries
  6. Each 80 Crore poor people will get 5 kg wheat or rice and 1 kg of preferred pulses for free every month for the next three months
  7. Finance Minister says People can take the extra free grain in two installments

  9. Cash transfer based on DBT: Farmers who get Rs 6,000 annually under PM-Kisan will get the first installment of Rs 2,000 in addition which will be given immediately in the first week of April
  10. As per Finance Minister Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme: Poor widows poor pensioners and poor disabled will be given ex-gratia an additional amount of Rs 1000 over the next three months: Finance minister
  11. Rs. 500 per month for 3 months to women Jan Dhan account holders also Women Jan Dhan account holders will get an amount of Rs.500 per month for next 3 months
  12. Also, 8.69 crore farmers to be immediately benefited through Direct cash transfers. Installment of ₹2000 in the first week of April will be transferred
  13. Finance minister announces increase in MNREGA wage to Rs 202 a day from Rs 182 to benefit 5 crore families
  14. The government of India will take care of the EPFO for the next three months. The government will take care of a total of 24% of the employee and employer contributions. EPF contributions for those firms with up to 100 employees. This is applicable for those who earn less than Rs. 15,000 per month. EPFO is (12%+12% of salary= 24%) . Also 4.8 crores EPFO registered workers can withdraw 3-month wages or 75% of their PF fund, whichever is lower as a non-refundable advance.
  15. Finance Minister says collateral-free loan doubled to Rs 20 lakh to 63 lakh women self-help groups; to impact 7 crore households
  16. Nirmala Sitharaman announces Ujjwala beneficiaries to get free cooking gas (LPG) cylinders in the next three months; this will benefit 8.3 crores BPL families
