The Tamil Nadu CBCID who is investigating the TNPSC exam scam, had arrested five people on Monday including two Village Administrative Officers and three drivers. This has raised the total number of people arrested so far to 40. Currently, the CB-CID is investigating three TNPSC examinations which are 2019 group IV, 2017 group 2A and 2016 VAO test, in which the large scale of malpractices have been suspected that have taken place. The officials arrested on Monday are drivers K Karthik and T Senthilkumar of the Ennore and Sabudeen of Perambur.
It is suspected that they were involved in escorting the vehicles which are used by the scam mastermind Jayakumar and TNPSC staff Omkanthan. They were escorting the vehicle when the tampering of answer sheets which had happened on the night of September 1, 2019, when the answer sheets were transporting in the van from Rameswaram to Chennai, it is suspected. It is also believed that these drivers were piloting the vehicles of the other two to keep an eye.
On Wednesday, another driver has been arrested whose name is R. Mariyali Jose Kumar. It is suspected that he was assisting the suspect.
