Jyotiraditya Scindia all set to join BJP
Jyotiraditya Scindia, a former union minister, and four-time parliamentarian had resigned from the Congress on Tuesday morning, just after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. It is expected that he may join the BJP sometime this week. He is likely to be rewarded with a Rajya Sabha seat and maybe a berth in the union cabinet, days after criticizing the party over violence in Delhi.
In his twitter account, Jotiraditya said, “…this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year. My aim and purpose remain the same… to serve the people of my state and country, I believe am unable to do this anymore within this party”.
Just after his taking exit from the party, 21 other Congress MLAs sent letters of the resignation, this has been said by an official from Madhya Pradesh Raj Bhavan. Earlier the source claimed that 25 MLAs were ready to resign. Shall these resignations are accepted, the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government will be reduced to a minority and likely be criticized. However, Mr. Nath is confident his government will complete the five-year term. “There is nothing to worry about. We will prove our majority,” he said late on Tuesday night.
