Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his council of ministers met with President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday to tender their resignations, following the final results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP-led ruling NDA secured 291 seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc parties won 230 seats.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet, where he discussed his plans for the next government and reiterated his commitment to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister and his ministers called on President Murmu to formally submit their resignations. The President accepted the resignations and requested the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers to continue in office until a new government is formed.
