Tony calls for boycotting Delimitation Commission
Jammu; DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony on Sunday asked the people of J&K to boycott the so-called independent Delimitation Commission for the simple reason that it has not maintained the sanctity of being a constitutional body and is dancing on the tunes of BJP leadership.
Address a meeting in Bikram Nagar area of Gaddigarh area here, Tony said that already the delimitation panel has lost its credibility when the audio clips of BJP J&K Chief Ravinder Raina and senior Party leader Shakti Parihar became viral on social media but now what is happening is the limit as every big and small activist of the saffron party is sharing the information about the next step of the aforesaid panel thus mocking at this constitutional body and the democracy.
He said that BJP members in Suchetgarh, R S Pura, Jammu province and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir are claiming with full confidence that Suchetgarh would soon be de-reserved thus giving ample proof that the delimitation panel is dancing on the tunes of BJP and giving two hoots to the voice of other parties and individuals as if they are all second class citizenry with rights not at par with those belonging to BJP.
The DDC Member said that the Delimitation Commission has merely become the ‘Yes Man’ of BJP High Command and has nothing to do with the aspirations of the other entities in J&K. He questioned how come BJP is announcing such things prior to the announcement of a final declaration by the Delimitation Commission.
Tony said that people in J&K and the rest of India are feeling ashamed of Election Commission’s Delimitation Commission headed by Ranjana Desai for showing a lopsided attitude in conducting this significant exercise meant for fair deal to one and all.
‘BJP claims Suchetgarh would be de-reserved in the final draft, panel dancing on tunes of BJP leadership’
The DDC member said that Delimitation Commission has shown indiscretion by holding such a wasteful exercise, especially in the case of redrawing the Lok Sabha Constituencies as not a single decision that was carried out is in line with the set guidelines rather every change purposed shows ineptness of the aforesaid commission or helplessness to say no the orders coming from the BJP High Command.
Tony said that the ‘spineless’ Delimitation Commission has no guts to even say yes to a single entities’ suggestions or objections rather it is preferring to act on the whims and fancies of BJP leadership without feeling any guilt or shame which is really bad for the democracy and the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent persons who attended the meeting include Jasvir Singh, Kuldeep Singh Shunty, Parvinder Singh, Ex-Sarpanch, SC/BC leader Balkrishan, and youth leader Rajinder Singh Kaka and Nitu Sharma.
