The restoration of pre-paid mobile phone connectivity is a positive development. The information flow is there when you have the connectivity available and it is a fact that people who want to inform police can now use the opportunity to do the same,” Dilbag Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) J&K told media persons in Doda.
He said that restoration of pre-paid mobile connectivity has also brought relief for the general public and now it will help them in their business as well.
The DGP was on a visit to Doda to review the overall security of the district ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. He, along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone Mukesh Singh, held a meeting with senior police officers here and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements put in place.
When asked about the presence of militants in twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar, the DGP said that around nine militants were present in Kishtwar district last year but after eliminating three militants of Kishtwar in Batote last year and with the arrest of two more militants the number has come down to three.
“Here in Doda Haroon was killed recently and now only one Kashmiri militant is active in the district,” Singh added.
He said that Pakistan always tries to disturb the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar as this area was free of militancy sometime back. “People are very intelligent and don’t want to get involved in militancy as they have seen its drawback. The radicalization of youth is not happening here in an organized manner and if at a lower level some people try to do so, J&K police are vigilant to deal with that.”
DGP J&K Bilbag Singh has said that three militants including Jaish-e-Muhammad commander Qari Yasir are trapped in Tral encounter.
“Qari Yasir was responsible for the killing of two Gujjar brothers and after August 5 he was responsible for many terror incidents in the area,” DGP said.
