Doda – Understanding Our Gram Panchayats, An initiative of District Administration

DODA – District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode on 28th December 2019 chaired a meeting with surpanches and panches, field functionaries of the RDD department and briefed them about the district initiative aiming at self assessment of the gram panchayats which is started on a pilot project basis in the 5 panchayats of the district.

The initiative was started by the district administration in collaboration with the Indian School of Public Policy, New Delhi and RDD department.

The meeting was attended by ACD Doda Akhter Hussain Qazi, DPO Doda Idrees lone, BDO Kahara, Bhalla, Bhagwah, Ghat, Research scholars of the ISPP, besides by the Sarpanches and Panches of the 05 panchayats.

During the meeting the scholars of the ISPP discuss in detail the developed parameters by the institute which will help the PRI members of the concerned panchayats to conduct self assessment survey,due to which present scenario can be recorded in actual manner and understanding of what could be done to remove the critical gaps positively can be finalized.

In this regard a format of the developed indicators were also circulated among the concerned PRI members which is to be filled in by themselves to record the actual position of their gram panchayat and  action plan will be formulated accordingly to remove the recorded critical gaps.

DDC while addressing the participants said that this initiative is being started on a pilot project basis in the 05 panchayats of the district in the initial phase and after the successful conduct of this phase, this model will be made applicable in all the panchayats across the district.

He said the PRI members to co-operate with the district administration and with the team of ISPP which shall be also visiting the identified panchayats, besides BDO’s were asked to direct their field functionaries to organise a special gram sabhas so that the visiting team will also get an opportunity to talk with all the stakeholders of the panchayats so that the aim of this initiative can be fulfilled in letter and spirit.
