Procurement of Moong will continue till November,30

Chandigarh November 16:  As a result of continuous efforts being made by the Haryana Government for crop residue management, incidents of crop residue burning have come down in the state. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department is continuously making the farmers aware about not burning the crop residue.

Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners  through video conferencing here today and gave necessary directions in this regard.

Dr. Sumita Misra directed that wide publicity should be done through IEC activities to make farmers more and more aware about not burning stubble.

She said that rallies should be organized all over the state on November 18 and school children, youth, NSS and Yuva Kendras should be involved in this. Through these rallies, a strong message should be sent to the society that burning of crop residue is not only injurious to health, but it also diminishes the fertile strengthof the earth, she added.

She said that wide publicity should also be done in the villages through mobile vans and a message should be sent to the farmers that they should not burn stubble.

Dr. Sumita Misra directed the Deputy Commissioners to keep an eye on the incidents of stubble burning by increasing the number of flying squads and enforcement teams in their respective districts.

She especially directed the Deputy Commissioners of Fatehabad and Sirsa to remain more vigilant in view of delayed harvesting of paddy in their district.

No shortage fertilizer in Haryana

In the meeting, Director General, Agriculture Department, Sh. Hardeep Singh informed that sowing of wheat has started in the state in which availability of DAP is essential for the farmers at the time of sowing. Till November 16, 2021, 2.15 lakh metric tonnes of DAP has been made available in the state, out of which 1.88 lakh metric tonnes have been bought.

He said that continuous efforts are being made by the State Government for additional availability of DAP from the Government of India. Eight racks have been ordered in last three days and nine more racks  are being ordered in next three days.

Every day 7000 to 8000 metric tonnes of DAP/ NPK is being made available by the Government of India in the state. Therefore, there is an appeal to the farmers not to allow any kind of disorder to spread in the district where there is availability of manure rakes and at the time of purchase of manure, keep restraint and buy manure in a peaceful manner, he added.

Purchase of Moong to continue till November 30

It was informed in the meeting that the State Government has decided to extend the purchase period of moong till November 30 in the interest of farmers in order to promote pulses in the state and ensure purchase of moong at minimum support price.

Procurement of moong by HAFED and NAFED will continue till November 30 in 38 notified mandis of the state. The decision regarding extending the purchase period till November, 30 has been taken to pass on the benefit of minimum support price to all the farmers.
