  • Chandigarh, February 15:  Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Haryana, Mr. P.K. Das while presiding over a review meeting, today directed officers of Power Discoms to accelerate their work pace so as to achieve the target being fixed under Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme for providing 24*7 power supply in remaining 1822 villages of the State.
  • Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department gave these directions while presiding over a review meeting with the officers of Power Discoms here today.
  • During the review meeting, Mr. P.K. Das while directing the officers said that with 24*7 power supply, a revolutionary changed has been brought about in agriculture, animal husbandry, and small industries sector of the rural areas in Haryana and which has positively improved the standard of life of women in rural areas.
  • He said that all officers and employees should speed up their functioning so that Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme can be implemented in the remaining villages as well.
  • It was informed at the meeting that concrete steps are being taken to provide 24-hour power to all villages of Haryana. To meet this goal, 24-hour power supply is being provided to 5223 villages under the Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme.
  • At present, 74 percent villages of the state are getting 24-hour power supply. Besides this, 24 hours of electricity are available in 10 districts of Haryana, namely, Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sirsa, Rewari and Fatehabad.  Furthermore, 3,01,571 power connections have been given to rural consumers under the Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme.
  • It was informed in the meeting that the implementation of this scheme has resulted in a positive change in the direction of timely payment of electricity bills which has also helped in decreasing the line loss of Power Discoms, and now the Discoms are earning profits.
  • It was on July 1, 2015, when the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal had launched the Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme from Diyalpur village in Kurukshetra district. The present government is committed to provide 24-hour power supply to villages on the similar pattern of Cities.
