Continuing crackdown on corrupt officials, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested a building inspector red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 5 lakh bribes in district Palwal.
Vigilance Bureau nabs a Building Inspector taking five lakhs bribe
Chandigarh, March 8– Continuing crackdown on corrupt officials, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested a building inspector red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 5 lakh bribes in district Palwal.
Disclosing this information here today, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Building Inspector Chaman Lal Tewatia posted at the Municipal Council, Palwal was arrested red-handed on the complaint of Dalip Bindal. The Building inspector had demanded Rs 10 lakh in lieu of passing the building plan of a showroom.
Later on, the accused inspector agreed to accept Rs 5 lakh in lieu of passing the building plan. The complainant, who did not wish to pay the bribe, approached the Vigilance Bureau. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the Building Inspector on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.
In another bribery case, the Bureau caught an Exemptee Sub-Inspector identified as Devender Singh red-handed accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000 in Narnaul district. The police officer posted as Incharge Economic Cell, Narnaul was demanding bribe to remove some names from an FIR filed in connection with a case. Following a complaint, vigilance laid a trap and arrested the accused ESI red-handed accepting Rs 50,000 in cash.
In yet another case, ASI Anil Kumar posted at police station Buria, Yamunanagar was arrested on the complaint of Krishan Lal of Ward No. 4 Moholla Pancholiyan, Buria. The complainant had approached the Vigilance Bureau complaining that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 10,000 for reaching a compromise in a complaint filed against the complainant. After verifying his complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested red-handed accepting bribe of ten thousand.
The spokesperson informed that cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against all three accused officials at respective police stations of the Bureau and investigation was in progress.
