DGP Haryana flags off month-long ‘Jagriti Yatra’ Cycle Rally to promote Women Safety in Haryana

16 Police Women cyclists team, led by ACP Mamta Sodha will travel 1194 Kms covering 23 Police Districts in 25 days

Chandigarh, November 15: Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana Sh. P.K. Agrawal flagged off the ‘Jagriti Yatra’, a month-long cycle rally launched by Haryana Police to raise social awareness regarding Women Safety and empowerment across the state at Police Headquarters, today.

DGP Haryana Sh. P.K. Agrawal said that providing security to the women, children, and elderly people is one of the top priorities of Haryana Police. Women Police stations were established in the state of Haryana to strengthen the capacity of Haryana Police towards this aim. But still, in some areas of Haryana, women hesitate to report the crime.

“This initiative aims to promote Women Safety by making the people, especially women & girls aware about their rights, and educated about the role of various agencies, including Police in the protection of women,” the DGP added.

Awareness events to be conducted across 23 Police Districts

The ‘Jagriti Yatra’ will cover all the districts in Haryana where social awareness events are to be organised by the district’s Police teams for maximising the intiative’s outreach. The team of Police Women cyclists participating in the rally will spread awareness amongst women and college/school girls about various crimes, crime prevention tips, and roles of various agencies.

16 Police Women cyclists to cover 1194 Kms in 25 days

The participating team of 16 Police Women Cyclists, led by ACP Panchkula Ms. Mamta Sodha will cover 1194 Kms of distance while heading towards various districts in Haryana covering both Rural and Urban regions. The ‘Jagriti Yatra’ that commenced from Panchkula today will culminate on 10th December 2021 with a closing ceremony to be conducted at Police Headquarters.

Jagriti Yatra – “Jagruk Naari, Shakti Humari”

With the slogan “Jagruk Naari, Shakti Humari”, Haryana Police aims at sensitizing the people regarding the need for awareness amongst women about their rights and aid facilities available to them. We also believe that empowered women contribute a major part in laying down the foundation of a strong nation.

On this occasion, ADGP (Telecom & IT) Sh. A.S. Chawla, ADGP (Law & Order) Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk, Principal Secretary (Haryana Transport)-cum-ADGP (SVB) Ms. Kala Ramachandran, IGP (Modernization) Sh. Amitabh Singh Dhillon, IGP (Women Safety Cell) Ms. Bharti Arora, AIG (Welfare) Sh. Hamid Akhtar, and other officers were present during the event.
